This Trail was officially opened by Minister for the South West David Smith on Oct 15 1989. It ran from island Point on west side of Harvey Estuary south to the southern terminus on Wellesley Rd just east of Binningup.  A brochure/map was produced in April 1999 by City of Mandurah, Shire of Waroona and the Peel Development Commission.

Since the Kwinana Freeway extension (Forest Highway) has been built, there is no horse passable connection to the northern bit of the Trail so most users access it at around Peppermint Grove Rd - south of the Forest Highway crossing. It can then be followed south but most of the markers have disappeared and water holes need marking too.

It seems that from south of about Crampton Rd it can probably be followed through the pine plantations at least as far as Myalup Beach Rd.

It is a good winter Bridle Trail but in summer can be hot and heavy going for horses as it is mostly sandy tracks through pine plantations.
